Having played a pivotal role in ending the club's trophy drought, Simiyu will now be hoping to carry his fine form into the 2026/27 season as Tusker chase a record-extending 13th FKF Premier League title
Tusker forward Ian Simiyu has set his sights on making a mark in continental football after helping the Brewers secure qualification for next season's CAF Confederation Cup.
The winger delivered a match-winning performance as Tusker defeated Kenya Police FC 2-1 in the Mozzart Bet Cup final at Kwale Stadium, scoring a brilliant brace to inspire his side to victory.
The triumph ended Tusker's five-year wait for silverware and earned the club a ticket to represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Simiyu described qualifying for continental football as the realization of a long-held ambition and revealed that he hopes to use the African stage as a springboard to further his career abroad.
"It is a super great feeling for me honestly. It has always been my dream to play in CAF matches. I am glad I was able to achieve that dream by scoring when it was crucial and when it mattered most," said Simiyu.
"Now my focus is to feature on the African stage, which is every player's dream. I want to give my best because it is a platform that could potentially unlock my career. Playing abroad and outside Kenya would be a major achievement for me."
The former Nzoia Sugar winger enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in what was his first full season with the Brewers after joining the club midway through the previous campaign.
His impressive performances saw him emerge as one of Tusker's most influential attacking players throughout the season.
Simiyu finished the campaign with 14 goal contributions, scoring five goals in the FKF Premier League and adding three crucial strikes in the Mozzart Bet Cup.
His exploits in the domestic cup competition earned him the tournament's Most Valuable Player award, marking his growing influence within the Tusker squad.
Reflecting on his season, the soft-spoken attacker expressed satisfaction with his progress, crediting consistent playing time for helping him rediscover his best form.
"It has been an excellent season for me. I can honestly rate my first full season with Tusker as perfect. I enjoyed a lot of playing time and managed to score goals, which helped me rediscover my form. It has been a fulfilling campaign for me, even though we fell short in the league," he added.
Having played a pivotal role in ending the club's trophy drought, Simiyu will now be hoping to carry his fine form into the 2026/27 season as Tusker chase a record-extending 13th FKF Premier League title while also seeking to make an impact on the continental stage.
