Kakamega Homeboyz vs Ulinzi Stars

At Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz will play host to Ulinzi Stars from 1400 hrs.

Homeboyz made it to the last 16 after a 3-0 victory over Division One side Kipchimchim FC, while Ulinzi demolished Zoo FC 7-0.

Homeboyz will be out to replicate their 2023 triumph in the Cup, while Ulinzi, enduring a poor season, will be seeking a first major title since 2010.

Homeboyz coach Patrick Odhiambo revealed that they have set their sights on the Cup as the club seeks a return to continental football.

“We are fully focused on ending the season well. We are still in contention in both the league and the Cup.

Our season will only be successful if we lift a trophy that will, in turn, take us to continental football, so we will prepare well and do all we can to secure a win against Ulinzi,” he said.

3K FC vs Bandari FC

Mozzart Bet-backed 3K FC will host coastal outfit Bandari FC at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga from 1300 hrs.

The match will be a centre of attraction today as it will be streamed live on the Mozzart Bet Cup Facebook page. Fans at the venue will also be entertained by a host of celebrities, courtesy of Mozzart Bet Kenya, with chances of winning gift hampers.

To qualify for the Round of 16, 3K secured a 4-0 victory over Denmark FC, while Bandari beat Bumbani Stars 2-1.

3K are the only National Super League side remaining in the competition and will be encouraged by Nairobi United’s run to the title last season while still competing in the second tier.

For Bandari, they rehired coach Bernard Mwalala in January and will be hoping the experienced tactician guides them to replicate their 2019 success and secure a return to continental football.

Nairobi United vs Posta Rangers

Defending champions Nairobi United will have an opportunity to move closer to retaining the title when they take on Posta Rangers at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 1530 hrs.

Nairobi United made a statement by demolishing BMC Allstars 8-0 in the Round of 32, while Posta secured a 2-0 victory over Oinopsos.

Nairobi United know the benefits that come with winning the Cup, having competed in the CAF Confederation Cup and reached the group stage.

Apart from competing on the continental stage, they also earned over KSh 30 million in the process and will be keen to replicate that success.

With the team sitting seventh on the league table with 39 points, 18 behind leaders Gor Mahia, the Cup remains their only realistic chance of silverware and a return to continental football, something coach Godfrey “Solo” Oduor is well aware of.

“The league is seemingly elusive and our target there is to finish in the best position possible. However, we are all focused on defending the Cup and the boys have made it their target. We have to ensure we compete in continental football again,” said Oduor.

KCB FC vs Chebaiywa Lions

2024 Mozzart Bet Cup finalists KCB FC will face Chebaiywa Lions in the first match of the day at Kasarani Stadium from 1300 hrs.

Chebaiywa sailed past National Super League side Gucha Stars in the Round of 32 to reach this stage, while KCB humbled Zetech University 4-0.

The Bankers are 17 points behind Gor Mahia in the league and, like many FKF Premier League sides, the Cup represents their only realistic chance of winning silverware this season.

Having suffered heartbreak at the hands of Police FC in last year’s final, they will be banking on the experience of coach Robert Matano to guide them past this hurdle.

Chebaiywa, on the other hand, will be encouraged by the upsets caused by underdogs in this competition and will be targeting another surprise result against KCB.
