As of last night, Memphis is the all-time leading scorer of the Netherlands national team, surpassing Robin van Persie
Last night, the Netherlands recorded a vital road win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lithuania (3-2) and kept the top spot in their qualifying group. And even though the Oranje had a more challenging job than expected, not many people would remember that match had it not been for Memphis Depay and his jubilee.
Namely, Corinthians net-buster bagged a brace and thus became the all-time leading scorer of the Netherlands national team with 52 goals, surpassing Robin van Persie, who found the net 50 times wearing the orange jersey.

Moreover, although it may sound paradoxical, iconic Dutch players such as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Johan Cruyff now all sit behind Depay on the Netherlands' all-time goalscoring list, though they all played significantly fewer games for the Oranje.
Either way, the former Man United and Barcelona forward is now part of Dutch football history and will remain so for some time, as his first active follower is #13 on the list, Georginio Wijnaldum, who scored 28 goals for the national team.
Depay debuted for the Netherlands on October 15, 2013, against Turkey in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying game and scored his maiden Oranje goal in a 3-2 win against Australia at the World Cup in Brazil on June 18, 2014.
He is also the seventh Dutch all-time appearance-maker with 104 matches and lacks nine games to enter the TOP 3.
