Morning workout, then off to school... except when I'm playing the Champions League

Pau Cubarsi is anything but a genuine high-school kid

His peers get annoyed because of the school exams, and Pau Cubarsi does not lose his temper even when he plays against Bayern Munich in the Champions League or Real Madrid in La Liga.

Jokes aside, the life of a 17-year-old Barcelona teenager is quite different from the life of an average high-school kid. Although, talking to the radio show "Tu Diras", he explained that he has no plans to leave school. So, what does it really look like to be a Barcelona player?

"I'm in the second year of high school. My classes start at 3 pm. The teachers from Leon Thirteenth School come to La Masia and teach me until eight in the evening, except when I play the Champions League. In that case, I have to do some things in advance or catch up later. Sometimes it's difficult, but I would like to go to university... Marketing or business administration. First high school, and we'll see after that," said Cubarsi with a kind of boyish sincerity.

He is like that when he talks about the Ballon d'Or, too. Although seven years younger, Cubarsi seems much more mature than Vinicius Junior.

"Just being among the best 10 or 20 in this selection is already enough reward and it should be important for every footballer to be there. Dani Olmo and I were there, but we didn't get anything. Although I wasn't surprised that Vinicius didn't show up, he was pretty evenly matched with Rodri."

The award for the best young player went to Cubarsi's teammate and friend Lamine Yamal...

"Now everyone sees what he is like, but I have known him for years and I know that he has the talent to win the Ballon d'Or as well. There is no ceiling for him. It's spectacular. You never know where he will appear and what he will do. He is very confident."

These are some new kids, and of these older ones - who were Cubarsi's idols?

"Pujol, although I don't remember him very well (Pujol retired when Cubarsi was seven years old). Pique also. I hope that I will spend my whole career in Barcelona, like those two. Aside from that short episode of Pique's at Manchester United," concluded he.
