So-called superagent Mino Raiola arrived byck to his native Italy to broker a deal between two of the biggest clubs in the country

Where there’s smoke – there’s also fire. Milan and Juventus could end up agreeing to a multiple swap deal in a bid to save money, reinforce their respective teams and get rid of unhappy players. And who you gonna call? Mino Raiola.

It all begun with Gianluigi Donnarumma. The sought-after goalkeeper’s contract with Milan will expire at the end of the season and, although he claims he’d like to extend his stay with the Rossoneri, he hasn’t yet put pen to paper. The reason? Money, of course. The club is offering $9.5million per year, but the Italy goalkeeper and his agent (you’ve guessed it, Mino Raiola) want $5million more. The delay has caused many a club to try and tempt Donnarumma into switching clubs after all.

Juventus are trying to broker a swap deal to recruit Donnarumma and let their Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny go the other way. The 30-year-old former Arsenal shot stopper is bound to Juve for another three years in which he’ll earn around $7.8million annually. Although normally considered a reliable choice for the position between the sticks, the Pole made a few grave errors this season and caused Milan’s sporting director to consider going all out for Donnarumma.

Simple, right? Wait for it.

To make matters even more intriguing, there are a few more players who could be changing their stripes in the coming months. Juve’s Federico Bernardeschi has been linked with a possible switch to Milan for more than a year and it could happen at last. But because Covid-19 pandemic and financial restrictions that came because of it, even the biggest Italian clubs have to be really cautious with their spending and go for straight swap deals instead. One of the ways for Milan to get their man Bernardeschi is to offer central defender Alessio Romagnoli as bait. Juventus could be tempted by this offer, according to Calciomercato. Both players have just over a year to run on their respective contracts and therefore find themselves in similar negotiating positions.

Not complicated enough? Wait for it.

One of Mino Raiola’s biggest clients is Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is hitting some decent form at Manchester United but it doesn’t mean that he’s certain to stay there. He did swap Manchester for Turin once and he might be doing it again if Raiola gets his way. Everton’s striker Moise Kean, who is having a fine season on loan at PSG, will also be discussed as he continues to be linked with a return to Juventus just two years after the black and whites had sold him.

Too straightforward? Wait for it.

Raiola has already been touring Europe touting another of his clients, Erling Braut Haaland, to potential suitors. Wherever he goes, he’s got a client or two and he has things to discuss with them. And history teaches us that Mino’s appearances in various destinations around the world are never accidental. There is something cooking.

We're waiting for it.
