Former Blues midfielder furious over vice-captain’s comments following PSG humiliation
John Obi Mikel has launched a scathing attack on Enzo Fernandez, questioning his leadership after the midfielder openly cast doubt over his future at Chelsea.
The Argentina international's remarks came in the aftermath of a crushing Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, as Chelsea crashed out of the UCL with an 8-2 aggregate loss.
"I don't know," Fernandez said when asked about his future. "My focus is here for now… then we'll see."

Fair to say, @mikel_john_obi is NOT happy with Enzo Fernandez’s recent comments.

The timing and tone did not go down well. Matters only escalated when the 25-year-old later admitted his fondness for Madrid, describing it as a city he would choose to live in, comparing it to Buenos Aires. That was enough for Mikel.
Speaking on his Obi One Podcast, the former Chelsea midfielder did not hold back.
"That's not a leader," he said bluntly. "You don't come out with statements like that after we've been disgracefully knocked out, not while wearing the captain's armband."
Mikel, who spent over a decade at Stamford Bridge, insisted such comments undermine both the dressing room and the club's identity.
"No player is bigger than the football club. If he's had enough, put your hands up and go. We move on."
Fernandez, who joined from Benfica for a £106 million fee in 2023 and is under contract until 2032, is currently vice-captain under Liam Rosenior - a role Mikel believes demands far greater responsibility.
"You have to respect the badge, the club, and the fans," he added. "They're the ones who pay your wages."
For Mikel, frustration is understandable, but public uncertainty is not.
