The sanctions will only come into effect after Migori’s weekend match against Silibwet Leons
National Super League side Migori Youth on Friday 1 December lost their petition launched to the Sports Dispute Tribunal seeking to challenge an 11 October decision by FKF Leagues and Competition Committee to ban the club from hosting matches at Migori Stadium following crowd trouble witnessed in their first leg match against Darajani Gogo on 8 October.
Following an October review of an incident that occurred at the said match, it emerged that Darajani Gogo members of staff and the media team were assaulted, and their equipment damaged by alleged home fans.
As a result, the Leagues and Competition Committee imposed several sanctions on the club [Migori], those of which were on Friday ruled in favor of, and shared to the respective clubs and Football Kenya Federation via mail by the SDT.
The sanctions included:
i. That Migori stadium is banned from hosting its next five (5) Migori Youth matches and shall play the said matches behind closed doors;
ii. That for the damaged iPhone 14, media equipment and medical expenses incurred, Migori Youth shall pay and reimburse Darajani Gogo Fc within 14 days of this decision;
iv. That Migori Youth FC is hereby ordered to pay a fine amounting to KES 200,000/=
Also in the decision by the league’s committee was that the result of the game - Migori Youth 1 -0 Darajani Gogo - stood, and that the aforementioned sanctions would only come into effect only after Migori’s weekend match against Silibwet Leons.
That consequently means that their home game against Dimba Patriots on 9 December will be when the SDT rulings take effect.
