Memories of 2013 run high as Bruno scored a Van Persiesque volley to win it for United

Captain's adorable volley just before the break gave Manchester United a much-needed 1-0 win at Turf Moor

Bruno Fernandes scored one of the most beautiful goals of the season to give Manchester United a scrappy 1-0 win away at Burnley. A majestic volley from the unlikely Jonny Evans assist settled this Saturday night Premier League encounter and probably eased a bit of pressure that's been mounting on the Red Devils' manager Erik Ten Hag.

The winning goal was reminiscent of the famous goal Robin van Persie scored for United in April 2013 - except this one was scored with the right foot.

Evans' most recent start for Manchester United had come eight years ago - until Ten Hag picked him to play at Turf Moor from the starting minute. The Northern Ireland veteran international only re-joined Manchester United to make up the numbers in training. However, a mixture of injury woes, tactical decisions and bad luck meant the 35-year-old got into the thick of things, and he surprisingly scored a goal, heading a ball in past James Trafford after a corner. However, Rasmus Hojlund obstructed the home goalkeeper's view, and therefore, the goal was denied after a video-assisted review.

The veteran may have missed out on a rare goal - but he did create one for his captain Bruno Fernandes. Evans played a long looping pass from the inside of the centre circle for the galloping Portuguese. Bruno caught the ball with a delightful volley that flew into the net, leaving Trafford with no chance. That was Evans' first Premier League assist for Manchester United since February 2, 2013, when he set up Wayne Rooney in a 1-0 win at Fulham.

The goal itself came slightly against the run of play as it was Vincent Kompany's side who dictated play and called most of the shots. But the timing of Fernandes' strike was perfect - just before the break. It was a terrific result for the team that lost to Bayern earlier in the week, especially considering Burney's Zeki Amdouni had previously hit the post with Andre Onana rooted to the spot.

The goal spoiled the night for Kompany and his players who never really got back into the game and rarely looked like levelling despite all their possession.

Bruno's goal was worthy of winning the biggest of games. After a torrid trip to Germany, this game was perhaps bigger for Ten Hag than he wanted it to be.
