Aubameyang is back after only one year
Olympique Marseille had a good season last year and finished where they belong, at the second place in Ligue 1. But many doubters will say it was because they didn’t play in Europe. So, coach Roberto De Zerbi decided to strengthen the team which will now battle on three fronts and one of the position in need is a striker. Sounds strange, as they have their best striker Mason Greenwood and they also brought Amine Gouiri, but cover is needed in a long season ahead. So, they decided to bring back the crowd favorite, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The former Gabon international left the club for Al-Qadsiah last season, but after taking the cash, he is already back from Saudi Arabia.

The fans are still loving him and made a spectacular reception upon the player’s arrival. Not many 36-year old players who are coming to be the back-ups are greeted like this. Aubameyang scored 30 goals (along with 11 assists) in 51 appearances for Marseille and the fans came to the airport to celebrate his return. Several hundred supporters attended, and he was welcomed by smoke bombs and chants, Aubameyang even called out "Aux Armes" from the stand at the airport. He also went to meet Marseille fans to take photos and greet the crowd.
“I'm thrilled to see you all again, family. This year, we're going to blow it up. I can't wait to get back to the Vélodrome!" he said into the microphone before going to the club to sign a two-year deal. Since Didier Drogba (32 goals in 2003-2004), no Marseille striker has scored as many goals in a single season.
