Both sides will be aiming to take home all three points as neither is mathematically safe from relegation.

Any slip in the remaining eight matches could drag them into the undesired drop zone.

In their last league outings, Mara Sugar earned a valuable point in Nairobi, holding Nairobi United to a 1-1 draw in an entertaining match played at the Kasarani Annex.

Posta Rangers, meanwhile, saw their three-match unbeaten run come to an end at the same venue, losing 2-0 to visiting Kakamega Homeboyz.

Heading into the game, Mara Sugar is 11th on the table with 31 points, the same as Posta Rangers, but a place above them due to a superior goal difference.

This suggests a tightly contested match is expected.

Interestingly, the fixture has never produced a winner in the three previous league meetings between the clubs, with all ending in identical 1-1 draws.

Monday could provide a chance to finally rewrite history, as both teams fight to avoid relegation.

Following the 1-1 draw with Nairobi United, Mara Sugar coach Francis Xavier praised his team’s performance on the road.

“When you are playing away, it is not easy, and that is the mentality we have instilled in players. They remain focused, resilient, and give their all,” he said.

“I appreciate the fact that we came out with a point, even though we missed opportunities to win. Each team had their own moments, and in the end, we shared the spoils.”

The millers will be banking on in-form January signing Alex Imbusia to lead their attack and find the back of the net, with support from Timothy Ndayala and Cliff Nyakeya.

For Posta Rangers, Jackson Macharia has been in great form since his January return to the club, scoring four goals, and they will hope he continues his scoring run.
