Managerial merry-go-round is at full swing - Spurs sack Frank

The Danish coach lasted only a few months, and it was as unsuccessful as it gets
Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with head coach Thomas Frank after a disastrous run of form that has left the club perilously close to the relegation zone. The Dane departs with Spurs sitting 16th in the Premier League, having won just two of their last 17 league matches and none in the last eight.
Frank's final league match in charge was Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United, a result that confirmed the mounting pressure from fans and the board alike. Despite a successful stint in the Champions League group stage - finishing fourth and advancing to the last-16 - Tottenham's domestic struggles proved insurmountable.
The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.

Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

The 46-year-old joined Spurs in June on a three-year deal, replacing Ange Postecoglou, who had overseen Tottenham’s worst Premier League campaign in decades, finishing 17th last season. Frank was brought in to stabilise and rebuild, but early signs were mixed: Spurs won six of their first 16 league matches, only to endure humiliating defeats to Arsenal (4-1) and Fulham (2-1) in November.
The season continued to spiral. Spurs drew with Brentford and Sunderland to start 2026, but losses to Bournemouth, West Ham, and a shocking FA Cup exit to Aston Villa followed. Supporters vented their frustration, regularly jeering Frank after each disappointing result.
1.12 - Thomas Frank has averaged 1.12 points-per-game as Tottenham Hotspur boss in the Premier League (29 points in 26 games), the lowest rate of any Spurs manager with 5+ games in the competition. Unsustainable. pic.twitter.com/GILDFMsjoH

Even occasional sparks, like 2-2 draws against Burnley and Manchester City amid Champions League victories, were not enough to lift the team from its downward trajectory. Defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle continued the winless streak that ultimately cost Frank his job.
Spurs' recruitment has been ambitious but plagued by misfortune. Four signings - Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus for a combined £114.1m, alongside loans for Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani - promised a stronger squad, but injuries to James Maddison (ACL) and Dejan Kulusevski prevented a full-strength team from ever hitting the pitch. Later additions Conor Gallagher and left-back Souza were brought in to bolster the squad, but it was too little, too late.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of Premier League resilience built during seven years at Brentford, where he guided the Bees to their first-ever promotion and four consecutive top-flight seasons without relegation. Spurs' investment in Frank and his backroom staff - including Justin Cochrane, Chris Haslam, and Joe Newton - reportedly cost the London club £6.7m, a sum reflecting both ambition and risk.
As Tottenham begins the search for Frank's successor, the club faces a crucial period to salvage its Premier League season and avoid slipping further into a battle for survival.
