Luanda Villa boss roars ahead of Kibera Black Stars clash

Villa have drawn their last five NSL games.

Luanda Villa head coach Tom Tera has sent a stern warning to Kibera Black Stars ahead of their National Super League clash this Sunday at the Vapor Grounds in Nairobi.

Villa will be seeking their first win in five games after playing out stalemates in the last Pentagon matches.

Luanda has drawn their matches against Naivas, Rainbow, Mulembe United, Dimba Patriots, and Kajiado FC since their season-opening win over Mombasa Elite hence mounting duress on the gaffer.

Tera, who has been with the club for the past four seasons, guiding them to two promotions, now believes the team is well-placed to battle for three points once again and reignite their season.

"We had little time to start our pre-season since Division One was a bit sluggish, and that had an impact on the team. When we got promoted, we were sure that the team was ready to compete, but after a few games into the season, we realized we still had a lot to do. We have now rectified and beaten several off-the-field situations that have been derailing our performances. Right now, the majority of the boys are mentally prepared, and Kibera must be ready to ship in goals," said the former AFC Leopards man.

The experienced expert revealed that the team has been engaging in vigorous training sessions to collect maximum points and avoid last-minute lapses that have had them fail to collect all the points in the previous matches.

"We have intensified our training sessions to try and grab three points for our supportive fan base. The boys are determined to avoid what befell them the last few games; going for a couple of games without a win was hurting both the playing unit and the fans," he offered.

The gaffer is, however, not blindfolded by the statistics that have placed his side as the favorites for the fixture, noting that the second tier is one of the toughest leagues in which any opponent is capable of sneaking away with a win.

Stars will also be looking to redeem themselves after playing out a 1-1 draw to debutants Rainbow FC in front of their fans as they seek to end their run of four games without a win

"I have seen the statistics that suggest we are the best side and well placed to win, but cannot make us relax; this is the NSL that anyone can win regardless of the venue,” he added

Meanwhile, Tera rallied fans to remain supportive despite the recent run of results, as he remains optimistic they will soon change their fortunes and surge towards their ambitions for the campaign.

"I call upon fans to come in large numbers to create a terrific atmosphere. It is what we need to win matches. They should be patient enough, and this is a new league; it was going to take time before adapting, but soon the results will trickle in, starting with the Sunday match-up," he concluded.
