Arsenal are negotiating with the Ghanaian midfielder about a possible contract extension

Arsenal are interested in extending Thomas Partey contract which is about to expire at the end of the season, The Athletic reports.

Although it seemed like the 31-year-old Ghanaian midfielder was on the exit doors of the club after five years spent at Emirates, it seems like the club is now keen to prolong his stay.

On the other hand, Partey is apparently happy at Arsenal, and, according to The Athletic, his family is enjoying life in London.

As things stand, he would be open to an improved two-year agreement or a one-year deal plus an option to extend by 12 months. He will also consider an alternative option in case a deal cannot be struck for him to stay.

Partey joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He won't be in the squad for the upcoming Champions League semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain next week, but he should be in contention for the return leg on May 7.
