RB Leipzig’s defeat at Dortmund meant that Bayern cannot be caught anymore, so their match against Monchengladbach was just a big party
Was there ever any doubt? Bayern are champions of Germany. Again. Robert Lewandowski is awesome. Again. The Polish goal-getter bagged a classy hat-trick as his team romped to a 6-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

For the ninth season in a row, the Bavarian powerhouse won the Bundesliga and confirmed its status as the country’s most successful team. They’ve increased their tally to impressive 31 national titles. For the sake of comparison, the second-most successful club in Bundesliga history, 1.FC Nuremberg won the title nine times, followed by Borussia Dortmund with eight. In a word – domination.
Bayern manager Hansi Flick will leave the club on a high after just over 18 months where he won seven trophies. Flick has been linked with the managerial role at Germany.

The rift between Flick, who succeeded Niko Kovac in November 2019, and sporting executive Hasan Salihamidzic overshadowed a large part of 2021. The pair fell out over the club's transfer strategy and Flick in mid-April confirmed he believed his time at Bayern is coming to an end despite having a contract until 2023 and the fact that he led the club a historic second Treble of Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League last season. He will be replaced as Bayern manager by current Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann.
Bayern celebrated the title in style with the trashing of Borussia Monchengladbach. It was another chance for star striker Robert Lewandowski to boost his already impressive stats as he continues to defy years and defenders in breaking all goal scoring records. Today he reached the 200 goals milestone for his current club, the number he accumulated since his move from Dortmund in 2014.
It was Lewandowski who opened the scoring early on and set the tone for a trashing that was always on the cards on the day when Bayern celebrated their historic achievement.
