Brigitte Macron wanted to show she could work as a football scout. But it backfired and ended in laughter

Brigitte, the wife of French president Emmanuel Macron, made the nation laugh during a tour of the University Hospital in Reims. She visited the University Hospital in Reims along with the coach of the France national football team, Didier Deschamps, and on that occasion, she showed how much she (doesn't) know about football.

"I don't have a player from Reims in the national team, but I follow what's happening and watch their games like all the other teams in the Ligue 1," said Deschamps when Mrs Brigitte intervened somewhat unexpectedly.

"There is one player, I think he is Japanese, who plays very well," the First Lady drew the attention to herself.

Then the entourage whispered to her that it was Junji Ito.

"Yes, yes, I meant him. He's very good, isn't he?" Mrs Macron addressed Deschamps. "Why couldn't you call him up to the national team?", she asked Les Bleus' boss.

"Well, because he's Japanese!" Deschamps replied, making everyone else laugh.
