The two sides clashed in an FKF Premier League match that was played at the Gusii Stadium on Wednesday, 28 October, where Shabana blew a first-half lead to suffer a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leopards.

Moments after the final whistle, the Kisii-based club took to its social media accounts to reveal what it earned from the match-day tickets.

“We collected a gross revenue of 631,900/=. Not the result your support deserved; we promise to bounce back.

It was great seeing the stadium painted red and white,” Shabana posted on their Facebook page.

The amount is one of the lowest since the club returned to Gusii Stadium at the beginning of last season.

The Glamour Boys have established themselves as the club with the biggest match-day fan attendance in the country over the past two seasons.

In turn, the club has been collecting over Ksh1 million in almost all their home matches and has become a great source of revenue for other clubs when they play away from home.

Shabana collected Ksh1,529,000 in their season opener against APS Bomet, Ksh937,000 against Posta Rangers, and Ksh1,197,000 in their previous home match against Mathare United.

Considering that AFC Leopards also boasts a huge fan base, the amount of money collected in the match was expected to be higher.

Some of the factors that might have led to the low collection in Shabana’s standards are the fact that it was a midweek clash, the ongoing rainy season that may have locked out many fans, and the disappointing results that the team continues to record.

The Peter Okidi-coached side is now on a four-match winless streak, including three consecutive losses at home, with Okidi under pressure from fans who want a turnaround of results or his exit from the club.
