Kakamega Homeboyz were the only winners of the day with a 1-0 win over Bandari
A late goal by Rogers Mugisha secured a valuable point for Gor Mahia as they made a late rally count to force a 1-1 draw with KCB at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Apollo Otieno had given the bankers a first half lead after 19 minutes, with K'Ogalo fighting back to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
Other Sunday 1 October results:
AFC Leopards vs Shabana.
The big game of the day at the Ulinzi Sports Complex ended up without any winner, as Brian Yakhama's 13th minute penalty was cancelled out by Peter Ogechi in the 21st minute to see both sides remain winless after five games this season.
Bandari vs Kakamega Homeboyz.
Brian Eshihanda's goal in the 63rd minute proved all the difference as Kakamega Homeboyz registered a huge 1-0 victory over Bandari at the Mbaraki Stadium.
With the win, Homeboyz jumped into ninth on the log with seven points.
Talanta vs Tusker.
Playing at home but away on today's cards, Tusker laboured on a tough day against FC Talanta, eventually falling to a barren draw that saw them drop points for a third game this season.
Game Recap.
Gor made two changes to their draw against Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend as they brought on the returning Austin Odhiambo and Mugisha for Ernest Wendo and Boniface Omondi, with the bankers going unchanged following an impressive outing against similar opposition.
KCB settled in quite more comfortably in a rather deserted Nyayo Stadium and made their mark early on when Stephen Etyang lashed Kevin Omondi's sidenetting after five minutes.
Patrick Sibomana then put his left foot shot way over the bar moments later, and in a first half where in hindsight, Gor labored to create decent opportunities upfront.
It was not long before they went down.
Isolated just outside the 18 yard box, a tame ball found former Tusker midfielder Apollo free, and with time.
He had a look at the goal before unleashing a powerful right shot that sailed way past Omondi's reach, hitting the net in the top right.
KCB had snatched a lead they deserved, and to hold a slim halftime lead, had to ask their goalkeeper Bryne Omondi to come out big, saving from Odhiambo and Sibomana shortly after the opener.
Bayisenge with the closest chance of the half had his attempt graze the crossbar, K'Ogalo settling better at the interval.
Second half.
The visitors thought they had doubled their advantage when Derrick Otanga combined with Musa Masika to slide his ball past Omondi in the 47th minute only for a flag from the linesman to go up.
Bayisenge was seemingly in the mood for a goal as he had his 65th minute free kick hit hoardings.
Mugisha then had his looping cross-cum-shot saved on the goal line by Omondi, before substitute Lawrence Juma, with all time to pick his shot, blasted it over the bar, and with a little over ten minutes.
Then came delirium.
A looping cross in the KCB backline proved too hot to handle for Bryne Omondi in goal, with his smuffed ball falling for Mugisha to slot home past two defenders.
All of a sudden, the clash had finally gathered steam, with Masika getting close moments after with a left foot slice that went wide.
