In a heartwarming display of unity and respect for the legends of Kenyan football, a Bandari contingent led by Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak paid a visit to the iconic Ahmed Breikh at his residence in Majengo, Mvita.
This memorable gathering brought together former Harambee Stars players, coastal legends, and football stakeholders to honor a man who left an indelible mark on the beautiful game.
Breikh, a Kenyan legend, played a pivotal role in Feisal's historic victory in 1965, securing the first national cup for a coastal side.
His exceptional talent extended to the Harambee Stars, where he became one of the game's top midfielders during his time.
Breikh's influence on a generation of players cannot be overstated, making him a cherished figure in Kenyan football history.
During the visit, former Harambee Stars and renowned Coastal coach Mohammed Kheri emphasized the importance honoring Breikh.
"Ahmed Breikh is our pride, and as football stakeholders, we should celebrate him for bringing immense pride to our country and the region. He was a midfielder who inspired countless players of our generation, and we should recognize him for his monumental contributions to football," he said.
Bandari head coach Twahir Muhiddin echoed this sentiment, adding, "Ahmed was an exceptional talent. If he had been in Europe, he would have been knighted. I call upon the government to honor him for his outstanding achievements," said the long serving tactician.
The visit saw a stellar lineup of football legends paying their respects, including Bandari team manager and former legend Douglas Mutua, former referee Khamis Bargazal, former Nyundo Legend Abdallah Shakir, former AFC Leopards legend Abdul Baraza, Kheri, who attended with his son Ali Breikh, the gracious host of the gathering.
Mbarak,stressed the need for recognizing football legends and pledged to initiate similar visits along the coast.
He stated, "These legends played a pivotal role in our football history, and we must recognize their tireless efforts in building our sport. In Bandari FC, we will ensure that our legends have a dedicated corner on our website, documenting their remarkable stories for generations to come."
