King Kylian ruins Kairat's UCL home debut

Reading Time: 4min | Tue. 30.09.25. | 21:40

Mbappe netted a hat-trick, reaching five goals in just two Champions League games, while his compatriot Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz confirmed the 5-0 triumph

After 71 years of existence, Kairat Almaty finally awaited their debut in the UEFA Champions League, though they won't remember fondly their beginnings in the elite European club competition.

Twelve days after Sporting dismantled them 4-1 in Lisbon, Real Madrid brushed them aside as well, even more convincingly, though - 5-0

Still, the team from Kazakhstan put in a decent performance on their home UCL debut and, at times, stood their ground and showed strength, but that wasn't enough to stun the giants.

Kylian Mbappe was the central figure in Madrid's triumph, netting a hat-trick thanks to goals from the 25th (from the spot), 52nd, and 74th minutes. Eduardo Camavinga in the 83rd minute and Brahim Diaz in added time just put the cherry on top of the visitors' triumph in the 83rd minute.

After travelling 6,500 kilometres to Kazakhstan, Real Madrid players needed some time to adapt to the pitch and the rivals. Kairat held out decently during the opening quarter of an hour, even had several attempts, but once Xabi Alonso's men started playing the way they knew, they took control.

Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, and Arda Guler's efforts came one after another, but they lacked precision, while Kairat's 18-year-old custodian, Serkhan Kalmyrza, stopped the Frenchman in a massive chance.

Still, the keeper's inexperience prevailed in the 25th minute. Yegor Soroking sent a poor back pass towards Kalmyrza, Franco Mastantuono intercepted it, and the goalie fouled him for a crystal clear penalty.

Mbappe sent it home, giving Madrid the lead, and scoring his third goal in the new Champions League campaign - and third from the spot, as he netted a spot-kick brace against Marseille two weeks ago!

Until the break, Alonso's crew could have doubled the lead, but Frenchman and Mastantuono failed to convert decent opportunities.

Still, what Los Blancos failed to shortly before the break, they did shortly after. Believe it or not, Thibaut Courtois sent a perfect ball for Mbappe, who this time took no prisoners in a one-on-one situation against Kalmyrza, making it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.

Quarter of an hour later, the home team was on the verge of getting a chance to reduce the gap from the spot, but after the VAR intervention the primary decision was changed and Madrid were saved. And then the visitors definitely sealed the deal.

Seventeen minutes before the end, following Rodrygo's magnificent solo effort, Mbappe completed a hat-trick, bagging his fifth UCL goal in his second appearance this season!

His France teammate, Eduardo Camavinga made it 4-0 with an easy header in the 83rd minute - just two minutes after replacing another Frenchman, Aurelien Tchouameni - to another Rodrygo's nice assist. The La Liga side's final punch was Brahim Diaz's goal for 5-0 after a counterattack in added time.

After tonight's victory, Madrid are expectedly on top of the UCL table with the maximum of six points, while Kairat suffered their second straight defeat. In the next round, Los Blancos will host Juventus in a derby on October 22, and the Almaty side will face another debutants, the Cypriot Pafos, at home a day before.
