Up next for Talanta is a home match against struggling Muhoroni Youth

FC Talanta head coach Ken Kenyatta says his side badly needed the points from their 3-0 triumph over Sofapaka FC on Saturday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Talanta put in a great second-half show to put Batoto ba Mungu to the sword courtesy of goals from Augustine Kuta, an own goal, and Kevintom Machika, who had tormented Sofapaka throughout the game. The defeat saw the 2009 FKF Premier League champions drop back to the basement of the FKF Premier League log while Talanta rose up to fourth in the standings.

The win was Talanta’s third of their campaign, which has largely been paralyzed by draws. The team has suffered just one defeat this campaign, but the six stalemates registered by Kenyatta’s men are the highest of any team in the league this season.

Speaking after the match, the seasoned tactician said it was important for his team to win after a plethora of draws in most of their games this season.

“We really needed it because we have won only two matches, and we needed to step up because we were in the red line; the difference was just one or two points,” he stated.

The tactician was quick to move on from their biggest win of the campaign, saying they have to plan on how to get maximum points in their next league assignment.

“At least we have gotten the three points, and it is a plus for the team, and we are also planning for our next game. This one is history, and we now plan on how to get a win in our next assignment,” he added.

Up next for Talanta is a home match against struggling Muhoroni Youth. The match will be played on Saturday at the Ruaraka Grounds.
