Reading Time: 2min | Mon. 31.05.21. | 10:38

Kenyan midfielder Magnus Breitenmoser suffered heart ache as his Thun side failed to earn promotion to the Swiss top-flight.

Kenyan midfielder Magnus Breitenmoser’s dream of returning to the Swiss Super League with Thun was quashed by Sion in the Promotion/Relegation playoffs.

Thun won the second leg of the encounter 2-3 but the damage was done in the 1-4 first leg loss as Sion maintained their top-flight status with a 4-6 aggregate win.

Thun were off to a flier in the second leg, opening the scoring three minutes into the clash through Omer Dzonlagic with signs of overturning the massive first-leg deficit vivid.

Sion however recovered from the nightmare start and pulled level in the encounter through Ubomir Tupta at the stroke of the half-hour mark to leave Thun with an uphill battle.

Josue Schmidt restored Thun’s lead eight minutes later after being set up by Fabian Rudlin to hand them slim hopes of overturning the tie.

Tupta completed his brace in first-half stoppage time as they headed into the halftime break level after a goal-fest in the first half.

Nikki Havenaar restored Thun’s lead in the 55th minute but Sion managed to limit them to no goals to win the tie on aggregate.

Breitenmoser was introduced in the 74th minute for Portuguese midfielder Daniel Correia.

Ismael Gonzalez

Kenyan international Ismael Gonzalez missed the matchday squad as Las Palmas ended the LaLiga2 season with a 1-0 win over UD Logroñés.

The result confirmed relegation for UD Logroñés to the Spanish third tier with Aridai Cabrera scoring the all-important goal in the 74th minute.

Las Palmas finished the season in ninth, 11 points off the Promotion Play-Offs as they will spend their third season in LaLiga 2 next season.
