To oversee the match, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed two Kenyan referees to be among the match officials that will oversee the final.
Kenyan referee Dickens Mimisa Nyargowa has been serving in the tournament as a center referee and fourth official, a highlight to the growing officiating career of the Civil Engineer.
Another Kenyan referee, Stephen Yiembe will be on duty as the second Video Assistant Referee (AVAR 2) in the highly anticipated clash.
The two Kenyan referees will, according to CAF, add local pride to the final match that will be played under the floodlights.
Cameroonian referee Abdou Abdel Mefire has been named as the center referee of the final of the biennial continental tourney.
This appointment points to the meteoric rise of Mefire who at only 29 years old, is the youngest match official in the tournament.
©CAF OnlineMefire made the headlines when he received his FIFA badge at just 23 years of age in 2019 and is considered one of the most promising match officials in the continent.
Mefire took pride in the appointment after receiving the news of the enormous task.
“Being appointed as the referee for this final is a great honour and a source of pride, especially given the scale of the event,” Mefire told CAF Media.
Mefire also admitted to the pressure that comes with the match but is keen to uphold the game's integrity.
“The pressure is there, and it’s normal to feel this kind of pressure at the end of a major competition.
When you are given the responsibility of a final, it is a sign of trust. You have the key to close the door, meaning you must ensure the competition ends on a good note.
"We can’t leave a negative image of the tournament. God willing, we’ll handle it professionally. It is a great honour and a source of pride to be trusted with this responsibility,” he added.
Robleh Dhiri of Djibouti will serve as the first assistant referee.
Liberia’s Joel Wonka will serve as the second assistant, while Mauritania’s Dahane Beida will lead the VAR team.
