Kenyan duo set to have new coach in Tanzania

Hans guided Singida to a top four finish last season and consequently, the club qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup
The duo of Duke Abuya and Joash Onyango will have a new head coach going forward, following the exit of Hans Van de Pluijm from Singida Fountain Gate FC.
The two Kenyans joined the Tanzanian Premier League before the start of the current season, albeit on loan from their respective clubs.
Abuya joined Singida from Kenya Police while Onyango joined the club from former Tanzanian champions Simba.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, management, sponsors, stakeholders and membership of Singida Fountain Gate FC, I wish to announce the resignation of head coach Hans has been with the club for some time now helping the team achieve big milestones,” read a statement from the club.
According to Singida, the tactician threw in the towel citing personal reasons.
His assistant Lule Mathias will assume the caretaker coach role until the club makes further announcements.
“However, as per this announcement, Hans has decided to resign on reasons attached to availing more time for his personal undertaking,” said the club in a statement.
Hans guided Singida to a top four finish last season and consequently, the club qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Singida finished behind Azam, Simba and Yanga who successfully defended their league crown.
He helped the club reach the second round of the continental tournament courtesy of the 6-1 win on aggregate against JKU in the preliminary round.
Singida beat JKU 4-1 in the first leg and secured a 2-0 win in the return leg played last weekend.
“Hans will forever be part of the club's history having recorded a historic achievement for the club last season finishing in the TOP 4, and qualifying the club for the current CAF Confederations Competition in which recently he has helped the team to advance to the 2nd round in the competition,” added the club.
