Wilkims Ochieng has been trying out with different sides in Europe since leaving Club Brugge mid last year
Highly-rated Kenyan attacker Wilkims Ochieng, 19, is set to officially join Slovenia top side FC Koper, Mozzart Sport can exclusively reveal.
The former Club Brugge player was all but set to sign for Belgium third-tier side Pastro Eisden on a short-term deal but made a turn around after Koper made an approach.
"I am very eager to play at the top level and Koper will feature in the UEFA Champions League. When the club expressed interest I didn't even think twice. My target is to play at top European competitions to show what I can do and the work just started, I am more than ready for the challenge," Ochieng told Mozzart Sport,
"I have trained with the club for a couple of days and I am happy so far." He added.
The Harambee Stars trialist becomes the second signing of the club who have already brought on bought young left winger Vid Koderman from Maribor.
FC Koper was founded in the 1920s and is one of the five Slovenian clubs that have won all domestic trophies since inception. They are currently second on the log with 35 points having played 20 matches.
Ochieng's debut could come on Saturday 21st January when the team takes on Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade in a friendly in Turkey.
He rose to prominence while featuring for Club Brugge in the UEFA Youth League in 2019 and was later handed a professional contract in 2020.

His development however seemed to have stalled and the club opted not to renew his contract after it lapsed mid last year. Since then, he has tried out in various European teams notably in France, Belgium and Netherlands.
Ochieng was called up to Harambee Stars in 2021 for games against Uganda and Rwanda although he never got any playtime. He has featured for Belgium national youth teams but remains eligible to play for Kenya.
