The team reported to camp on Friday, 16 January at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, where training officially commenced ahead of the opening round of the qualification campaign.

Kenya, who are seeking to qualify for their first-ever AFCON tournament, are set to begin their qualifying campaign against Namibia in the first round.

The opening leg is scheduled for Friday, 23 January, with the return fixture set for Wednesday 28, January.

Should Kenya emerge the winner on aggregate, a meeting with Libya in the second and final round awaits.

The stage is also set to be contested over two legs, with matches scheduled for 3 or 4 February, and 7 or 8 February.

Leading the side will be coach James Omondi, who in May last year led Kenya to becoming the overall champions of the Fourth Asian Futsal Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Also in that team which beat India 8-3 in the final, is assistant coach Joseph Mbugi, who then skippered the side during the tournament and emerged as top scorer.

A total of 18 teams from Africa will compete for seven available slots at the continental finals. The seven qualified nations will join hosts and defending champions Morocco at the global event scheduled for 11–21 April.
