Etemesi was the hero of the day, scoring a brace as The Bankers produced a remarkable comeback to secure a 4-2 victory over APS Bomet in a FKF Premier League match played on Tuesday, 16 December at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani.

The former Kangemi Allstars forward was born and bred in Nairobi’s Kawangware estate, the same neighbourhood that Ouma grew up in.

Speaking after his heroics at Kasarani, Etemesi revealed the desire to follow in the footsteps of the Polish Club Lech Poznan midfielder.

“Seeing success stories from the hood is good. I am just working on myself, hopefully score more goals and when the opportunity arises, leave for greener pastures,” said Etemesi.

The former Nairobi City Stars striker also disclosed the efforts that led to his three goals in the Tuesday afternoon clash.

“I am so proud of this moment. I have really worked hard for this comeback for a long time, and I am glad to have got my first goals of the season.

The coach and the team really supported me in this. I am now targeting more goals before the end of the season,” he added.

In his address to the media, KCB coach Robert Matano revealed that the APS match was Etemesi’s last chance to retain his place in the team, having failed to score in the 2025/26.

Having taken the critique positively, Etemesi only had kind words for the veteran tactician.

“He (Matano) is a good coach. He has been pushing me and the whole team in general. He is a very positive person."

The win was KCB’s third in a row, a testament to their fine form following a previous five-match winless streak, and the forward disclosed the secret behind their form.

“We had a bad run but the coach took us to a camp in Kericho, where we bonded well and now the team is okay and is competing well.”
