KCB went into the match at 10th position and on the back of a 2-0 loss to Nairobi United while Posta drew 1-1 with Kariobangi Sharks in their previous match and on a four-match winless streak.
The match started at a slow pace, both teams moving the ball slowly and opting for long balls that did not yield any meaningful chance by the quarter hour mark.
The match began to gain pace towards the 20th minute mark, KCB threatened through Francis Kahata and Francis Kahiro while Posta had Caleb Olilo launching attacks from the right side.
Posta scored in the 22nd minute through Reagan Otieno but the linesman went up for offside in the build up.
From the resulting restart, The Bankers took the lead when Kahata pounced on a rebound from Bixente Otieno and rolled the ball into the back of the net in the 23rd minute for his first goal at the club.
Posta got an opportunity to equalize two minutes later when Olilo found Reagan with a beautiful cross but the Gor Mahia loanee headed over the bar.
The Mailmen had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 40th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Nashon Wekesa handled the ball in the box. Youngster Trevor stepped up for penalty duties but hit the woodwork with his strike, ensuring KCB take a 1-0 lead to the break.
In their bid to chase the game, Posta made three changes at half time, bringing on Eliud Lokuwam, Robert Ponda and Bunge La Wananchi sensation Brian Otieno for Lewis Shivachi, Teddy Trevor and Reagan Otieno.

The first chance of the second half fell to KCB’s Richard Omondi who picked a loose ball, in the 50th minute, outside the box but his shot lacked the power to trouble Bixente.
Posta got two chances in quick succession in the 55th minute but both Crucial Wasambo and Lokuwam hit the post as the tempo of the match increased sharply.
The mailmen were back at it at the hour mark when Lokuwam pounced on a ball at the edge of the box following a KCB mix up between Victor Odhiambo and goalkeeper Elvis Ochieng but his looped ball went over the bar.
Posta kept pushing for a winner but KCB who had reinforced their defensive set up stood tall to see off the match.
With the win, KCB moved up to sixth on the log with 25 points while Posts remained at 11th with 22 points.
