Goals from December Kisakah and Amatton Samunya cancelled an own goal by Victor Okello to ensure the 2024 Mozzart Bet Cup finalists banked three points.

The match began on a low tempo, as the Bankers and the Slum Boys tried hard to keep possession, but both ceded it cheaply through mispasses in the early minutes.

With a quarter of an hour gone, KCB chose to go direct with their attacks while Mathare were focused on building from the back.

The match picked up pace in the 20th minute, even as KCB’s Kelvin Etemesi went into the referee’s book for a foul on Brian 'Rio' Ochieng.

The Bankers had a chance to grab the lead in the 21st minute when Nashon Wekesa whipped in an inviting cross from a short corner, but none of his teammates were there to meet it.

Mathare would then score from their first chance in the 23rd minute. The Slum Boys launched a quick counterattack through Musa Masika, who drove into the KCB half before switching the ball to Isaac Omweri on the right.

Omweri brought in a beautiful cross that Victor Okello inadvertently turned into his own net.

KCB reacted to the goal by launching an attack on a quick transition, but Etemesi’s 25th-minute attempt went over the bar.

Mathare had a chance to double their lead in the 35th minute when Omweri pinged another cross from inside the box, but it was just inches away from John Makwatta’s run.

KCB suffered a blow in the 40th minute when Omar Chirchir was stretchered off with an injury, with December Kisakah taking his place.

Kisakah would be the hero for KCB in the 45th minute when he got to the end of a ball in the box after exchanging short, quick passes with Richard Omondi and unleashing a low shot into the back of the net to level the scores before the halftime whistle blew shortly thereafter.

In the second half, KCB continued with their first half form and would get a reward in the 52nd minute when Amatton Samunya rose high to head a Mathew Rodgers corner kick into the back of the net.

The Bankers would go ahead and protect their lead for the rest of the match and secure a 2-1 win at full-time.

With the results, KCB have moved up to seventh on the log with 28 points while Mathare remain 11th with 22 points.
