Kariobangi Sharks has turned to the services of the their former midfielder Ibrahim Kitawi.

2018 FKF Cup champions Kariobangi Sharks have offered midfielder Ibrahim Kitawi a lifeline after resigning him on the Bosman rule.

Kitwai was clubless after being released by Sofapaka back in January 2020 alongside 12 other players as Batoto ba Mungu overhauled their playing unit.

According to reports, the playmaker has been handed a two-year contract with Sharks as they aim to bolster their attacking threat.

Sharks released a statement confirming the signing, “Ibrahim Kitawi is back. The attacking midfielder joins us for his second stint at the club,” read the statement.

Kitawi first arrived at Sharks back in 2015 from Bandari FC and had a three-year stint before joining 2009 champions Sofapaka in 2018.

A source close to the club who sought anonymity revealed that the club has been in the market for a number 10 who understands the Sharks philosophy.

“Kitawi is back in the club, we opted to have him back because he has the qualities we are looking for and he did not have a team.”

“Not many players can play the number 10 role how we want at Sharks and having been with us when we finished third in our debut season, we feel he is the right player,” noted the source.

Despite struggling to find a number 10, Sharks have been banging goals for fun this season, scoring the second-highest (19) tally behind Tusker.

Kitawi becomes the second signing at the club in the January transfer window after roping in Ibrahim Ochieng from Western Stima.
