Kane responds to Barcelona rumors

The Catalans are looking for Lewandowski's replacement and the English captain is a perfect candidate

Harry Kane is having the season of his life. He is the leader of Bayern, a team that has shaped itself this year into the most ruthless attacking machine in Europe. He is leading the race for the Golden Boot and, naturally, with a great horse comes a lot of dust. Although his contract with the Bavarians runs until the summer of 2027, media across the continent are already speculating about the English captain’s next club. The reason is a 65,000,000 euros release clause that becomes active after the end of the current season, and the loudest rumors concern Barcelona, who are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. A day before a potentially season-defining match at the Emirates between Arsenal and Bayern, the captain of the Three Lions decided to calm the nerves of the German giant’s supporters.

Reporters asked the 32-year-old about Barcelona’s interest, to which Kane replied:

I haven’t had contact with anyone; no one has approached me,” he said, and then responded to the question of whether Bayern fans should be worried: “No, I wouldn’t say so.”

As for the release clause, it is up to Harry during the upcoming January transfer window to inform Bayern’s management whether he plans to activate that option.

I’m very happy in Munich. You can see that in the way I play. If some contact happens, we’ll see. But I’m not thinking about next season yet. First, we have the World Cup next year. And the chances of me changing anything after this season are very small. I will definitely sit down and talk with Bayern’s representatives in the coming months, and then we’ll see what the best options for the future are” he said.

Bayern CEO Herbert Hainer is very optimistic about Kane staying until the end of his contract. If he saw it out, Kane would be 34 years old in June 2027.

He still has a year and a half left on his contract and is playing at an unbelievably high level. I am absolutely convinced that he is very happy in Munich. We will talk. His decision will be based on his plans for the future. But I am absolutely sure there is a very good chance he will sign a new contract”. Bayern did pay 100,000,000 euros for Kane two and a half years ago, but the most complete striker of today has delivered 109 goals and 29 assists in 114 appearances. It seems realistic that Kane could lead Bayern to the very final stages of the Champions League.
