Bendeka, who moved to Kenya about a year ago, still has the will to prove his worth as a striker in the league, this time in a much-reduced pressure environment.

In a bid to bolster their squad and attack, the Kakamega-based side took advantage of the Congolese's availability and added him to their roster.

At Homeboyz, the 26-year-old is expected to fill in the big shoes left by reigning FKF Premier League top scorer Moses Shumah, who has since joined Zambian champions Power Dynamos.

Shumah scored 17 league goals, one more than second-placed Emmanuel Osoro, who has also joined Power Dynamos from FC Talanta.

The 22-year-old's goals helped Homeboyz finish third in the FKF Premier League log. However, the club is currently restructuring ahead of the upcoming campaign after losing key members of the team.

Apart from Shumah, Homeboyz have also lost assistant captain Brian Eshihanda, goalkeeper coach John Waw and head coach Francis Baraza - all of whom have joined Tanzanian club Pamba Jiji FC.

Bendeka, on the other hand, had an underwhelming season at Gor Mahia, where he managed to score just six league goals, way lower than the 19 goals scored by the man he came to replace - Benson Omala, in the 2023/24 season.

The former Etincelles Gisenyi striker will hope to have better goalscoring statistics after acclimatising to the league.

Bandeka was a victim of the ongoing purge at Gor Mahia and mutually parted ways with the Kenyan giants on Wednesday, 20 August, as announced by the club.

“We have parted ways with striker Gedeon Bendeka on mutual agreement; We are grateful for his dedication and service and wish him the very best in his endeavour,” read Gor Mahia's post.

K'Ogalo have since signed Harambee Stars quartet of goalkeeper Byrne Omondi and defenders Lewis Bandi, Mohamed Siraj and Mike Kibwage.

The highly anticipated FKF Premier League 2025/26 season is set to kick off on Saturday, 20 September.
