The Talanta winger has managed six league goals thus far in the season

FC Talanta winger Francis Kahiro believes that the performance he has displayed in his debut season of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League will procure him a call up to the national team ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Kahiro has managed six goals for the league newcomers with his recent, enabling the Ken Kenyatta coached side to fry Bidco United 1-0 at Thika Stadium last Saturday and consequently, the outfit bagged its seventh win of the campaign.

With the qualifiers set to commence next month, the lanky winger is determined to beat the cutthroat competition for the available Harambee Stars slots through maintaining a scoring culture in the subsequent league matches.

Despite the team lacking an head coach barely weeks to the qualifiers, the Passenga Boys High School alumnus says he will continue working hard and leave his records to win him a call up.

Stars were rendered coach-less after Engin Firat left in November last year following the expiry of his six-month long contract and with the Caretaker Committee taking over the running of the game, it remains unclear on the fate of his assistants: William Muluya and Kennedy Odhiambo.

"I believe that the Harambee Stars door will be opened for me if I continue scoring. It is the dream of every player to represent the national team and my case is no difference. I am hoping that I will be considered during the AFCON qualifiers," he said.

Kahiro is also on record disclosing his dream of laying hands on the top scorer's award at the end of the season as well as inspire the Communications Authority of Kenya sponsored club to finish inside the top five bracket.
