K'Ogalo are set to face Homeboyz in the Mozzart Bet Cup round of 16

Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry has declared that he wants to win all the trophies on offer this season.

K'Ogalo are firmly in contention for a record 20th Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title and the recently branded Mozzart Bet Cup, where they are in the round of 16.

The Irishman spoke after watching his side run riot against hapless Vihiga Bullets FC, thumping them 5-0 with Ugandan striker Patrick Kaddu bagging a hattrick on his debut.

"This could really be a special season," the former Uganda Cranes and Sierra Leone manager said.

McKinstry's confidence stems from the fact that for the first time in two transfer windows, Gor Mahia were able to sign new players after clearing with FIFA.

The club roped in 8 new faces, taking the number of their infield players to 26.

"Now that we have a big squad…had we have 18 in field players like in the first leg, maybe we would have sacrificed the cup a little bit in pursuit of the FKFPL, but now we've brought in fresh legs, we can go full throttle," the coach said.

Gor Mahia tops the FKFPL table standings after 21 fixtures with 45 points, six points off Tusker FC, who have played a game less.

On Saturday, the team will return to Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega for the second time this season to face Kakamega Homeboyz FC in the Mozzart Bet Cup, and McKinstry is expecting a tough game against the side that enjoys shirt sponsorship from the Cup partner.

"It's obviously going to be tough…it's the Mozzart Bet Cup, and as you know Kakamega Homeboyz are sponsored by the same company, so they'd want to go deeper in the tournament," he said.

Gor Mahia edged Homeboyz 1-0 in the first leg league encounter at the Bukhungu Stadium, but McKinstry says it was extremely tough to get points from the backyard.
