Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau has rubbished claims suggesting that the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title is theirs to lose.
Rangers are on top of their game this season as the team is enjoying a three-point gap at the top, eight rounds into the campaign.
The team has won six matches, drawn once, and lost once, and on top of that, they are playing attractive football that has left many convinced that they are ripe for the title.
Rangers also boast of depth in all departments, giving Kamau the manpower that should certainly help Kamau sustain a good start.
Despite the good start, Kamau doesn't want to be drawn into the title talks as of yet, as he insists that it is too early to suggest that they are clear favorites.
Record champions Gor Mahia and twelve-time holders Tusker have dominated the competition in the last decade.
Kamau said the team's focus was on developing the project, taking a game at a time, and going for maximum points in each encounter.
"It's too early to start thinking of the title. If we start talking about it at this point, then we will be honest with ourselves. For now, we are focusing on the project and what we are doing right. If we continue doing the basics, which give us points, then the table will be out there at the end of it," said Kamau shortly after their 2-0 win over Bandari last weekend.
Posta's sole defeat in the season came a week ago in the hands of FC Talanta, who won 3-1 at the Ruaraka Grounds.
Reflecting on the defeat, Kamau said the team dropped points due to the state of the playing surface, which couldn't allow them to execute their style of play.
"We lost the three points against Talanta due to the pitch. If we are serious about developing football, we need to be serious with ourselves. Some of the pitches do more harm than good," he explained.
