Out of the eighteen top-flight clubs, Bandari have the worst goal conversion rate this season
Bandari coach John Baraza is concerned with the team's misfiring forward line, which has found the back of the net three times in eight matches.
Out of the eighteen top-flight clubs, Bandari have the worst goal conversion rate this season, with Muhoroni Youth, Sofapaka, and AFC Leopards following closely.
Baraza, a three-time 'Golden Boot' winner with Sofapaka at the peak of his career, was at pains to explain the low goal returns, despite admitting that most of the team's training sessions were centered on finishing.
Last weekend, Bandari bowed 2-0 to log leaders Posta Rangers at the Kasarani Annex, marking the first defeat for Baraza since succeeding his boss Twahir Muhiddin.
It was after losing to Posta that he conceded that the forward line wasn't firing to its optimum levels and, thus, the need to work harder.
"It concerns me for sure. It is a big challenge that we are trying our best to deal with. Our training sessions have been centered on finishing, but still, we are not getting the goals on match days. However, we will continue sharpening the forwards," he said.
The former Kenyan international wasn't also pleased with the back line, as the team has let in six goals in the matches played.
"Our defense is not as compact as it is supposed to be. We have to address the two departments before our next game," he said.
Baraza joined the Bandari bench before the season began as an assistant to the veteran Muhiddin, who called it quits earlier this month after the 2-0 defeat to Bidco United.
In his first assignment at the touchline, Baraza guided the 2019 Cup winners to a 1-0 win over the Leopards.
The former Kakamega Homeboyz gaffer will be looking for his second win in charge when Bandari hosts Kenya Police on Wednesday at the Mbaraki Grounds.
