It's Iheanacho time: The Nigerian kicks out Manchester from the FA Cup
Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 21.03.21. | 21:50
Leicester are through to the semi-finals where they will play against Southampton
He was a substitute for too long, he suffered from a lack of confidence for too long, but finally, it’s Iheanacho time. The Nigerian forward is playing his best football since he came from Manchester City almost four years ago, and seven goals in four matches prove that. He scored two against the Red Devils in the FA Cup quarter-finals match while Tielemans add another one for the final score: 3-1.
Manchester United was beaten by a team who is just a point below them in the Premier League and they should go back to the basics: how to tackle, how to pass the ball, how to jump after a free-kick. The Red Devils were poor in this match, and all three goals were scored after some basic errors, which you can see from League Two teams, not great clubs. There were (and there will be) talks and talks about what improvements Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must make for the next season, and again, it’s clear: they need a great defender and a „beast“ in midfield. They can’t win the Premier League, they are out of the Cup, so the only chance for the trophy will be winning the Europa League.

The first chance of the game came through Magure, but his header was not so strong, while Vardy’s shot was palmed away by Henderson. All in all, it was an uninteresting 20 minutes of the match, with Leicester a better team, but it was a massive error with led to the Foxes' goal. Fred was careless while making a back pass, as he didn’t see that Iheanacho was close to Henderson. The Nigerian had a presence of mind to use this gift for the easiest goal of the season.
Greenwood announced his goal with a chance in the 28th minute and then equalized 11 minutes later.
Being the better team during the first 45 minutes, Leicester continued with the same style of play and it bought results. Tielemans took the ball deep into Man United’s territory, ran for about 20 meters, and then drilled a very astute finish right into the bottom corner for 2-1. Again a mistake from United’s players, as Tielemans regularly scores goals like this one, and yet they allowed him to run 20 meters untouched. Matic couldn’t catch him, Fred couldn’t take him down, and he punished them.
Vardy could have ended the match 30 minutes before the end, but he somehow managed to miss the goal, after he passed Maguire and found himself one-on-one with Henderson. Fernandes, Cavani, McTominay, and Shaw all came in during the same minute, but it didn’t help much. In fact, it was McTominay who made a mistake after completely missing the ball after an Albrighton free-kick, and Iheanacho was all alone, and again it looked easy: 3-1.
The first really good chance from the Red Devils came in the 87th minute when Schmeichel had to pull out the ball from the top corner after a great Fernandes free-kick. Too little, too late. During the half-time, there was a draw for the FA Cup semifinal, and Leicester will play against Southampton, while Chelsea and Manchester City are the other pair. The semi-finals of the competition are scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, April 17, and will be played at Wembley.
