The youthful tactician has been instrumental for the club as they hold an eight point buffer at the summit of the log.
Title hopefuls Kakamega Homeboyz are set to be handed a massive blow in their quest for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) crown as head coach Benard Mwalala has been linked with a move to Tanzanian outfit Coastal Union.
According to impeccable sources from Tanzania, the former Bandari FC head coach is on the verge of completing a move to the relegation-threatened Tanzanian Premier League outfit.

A source close to Coastal Union revealed that the club turned to Mwalala after previously exploring the option of three other foreign coaches to no avail.
“There were three preferred coaches for the job, one from Burundi, the other from Rwanda and one Serbian by the name Goran Kopunovic who was once at the helm of Simba but things changed and we started official talks with that coach (Benard Mwalala),” a Coastal Union source told Mwanaspoti.
The retired forward turned out for Coastal Union in 2011 before a calling time to his career after suffering a serious hip injury after which he started his coaching at Tanzanian lower league side Magomeni FC.
According to sources, the Coastal Union club hierarchy travelled to Mombasa to finalize the deal with Mwalala when Kakamega Homeboyz played their away tie to Bandari FC last weekend.

Reports indicate that Coastal Union are set to make the official announcement public in the coming days with the former Nzoia Sugar head coach assuring the club of turning around their fortunes.
Coastal Union are 10th on the log just two points above the relegation zone and should Mwalala complete the move he will join fellow compatriots Francis Baraza who is at the helm of Kagera Sugar and Patrick Odhiambo who heads Tanzania Prisons.
