Former Leopards winger has been out of active football from late 2019

Former AFC Leopards winger Marcellus Ingotsi is projecting to return to competitive football next season after more than a year in the cold.

Ingotsi who was attached to Posta Rangers until September last year played his last league match during their 2-0 win over against Nzoia Sugar in November 2019,coming in the second half.

Although he put the ball past the line, the match did not end well for him as he picked what initially appeared to be a harmless slight knee knock.

The Harambee Stars trialist however aggravated the injury while in training and would later confirm a date with the surgeon after the scans exposed a meniscus tear on his right knee.

Ingotsi who was heavily linked with a return to Leopards before the season began went under the knife on February 5 and had since begun the rehabilitation sessions.

"I will be back on the pitch possibly next season. I am doing my rehabilitation sessions three times a week and I am certain by the season ends, I will be fit enough to play at the top level. The past year has been one to forget thanks to the injury and off the pitch issues but I will be back stronger and ready to rumble," he said.

Ingotsi who was last year heavily linked to Nairobi City Stars before the injury cleared the air on why he had not fully severed ties with Rangers despite being dropped from the squad.

The lanky player was released three months to the expiry of his contract under unclear circumstances but he says Rangers management, out of compassion secured him a one-year long job at the corporation which bankrolls the clubs.

"I was unable to play for Rangers after the doctor confirmed that I was set for surgery. At the same time, I lost my Mum and could not concentrate on football for a while. I was removed from the squad but handed a job in the corporation," he said.
