Migori Youth also cemented their place in third spot after beating Mara Sugar.
Sammy Okoth’s high flying Shabana recorded their fifth consecutive victory on Wednesday afternoon when they beat Naivas FC 1-0 at the Gusii Stadium to move a step closer towards securing their return back to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).
In the Round 27 clash, Peter Ogechi’s first half strike is all that Tore Bobe needed as they managed to seal all the three points from the encounter, taking their tally to 54 points for the season in their opening twenty seven matches played so far (W17 D3 L4).
Prior to the match, both teams were high in confidence as Shabana were on a four-match winning streak while Naivas, who sat in position six just six points adrift the promotion places, had won their last two matches.
It is Shabana who however got the telling touch in front of goal on the 23rd minute when Ogechi pounced to score what went on to become the match winner in the clash.

Migori Youth 2-1 Mara Sugar
Elsewhere, another promotion chasing side in Migori Youth managed to tighten their grip in third spot – the automatic/relegation playoff spot – following their 2-1 win over chasing Mara Sugar.
Migori only had one point separating them from fifth placed Mara Sugar prior to the match but the hard fought win afforded them some breathing room as it put an unmwanted dent to Mara Sugar’s charge for the top three places in the second tier.
Robert Ouma found the back of the net in the 27th minute to give the hosts the lead but Philemon Nyakwaka ensured the game went into the half time break level as he restored parity for Mara Sugar with just one-minute left on the clock.
With the game seemingly destined for a share of the spoils, Kelvin Haggai came up with other ideas when he grabbed the match winner on the 81st minute to ensure his side maintain their chase for a ticket to the top tier.
At the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Kisumu Allstars made light work of relegation threatened Silibwet Leons after picking a convincing 2-0 win over the ten men side.
After managing to keep out Allstars for a large part of the first half, Silibwet gave themselves a huge mountain to climb when they were reduced to ten men following John Nduati’s straight red card on the 43rd minute.
That dismissal would come to haunt them just six minutes into the scond half as Reagan Okumu opened the scoring on the 51st minute.
Devan Omondi would double their lead in the 78th points, sealing the three points for Kisumu All Stars who ended their three match losing streak.
Muranga Seal had to come from behind in their 3-1 victory over SS Assad at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a as they maintained their place behind log leading Shabana.
Lugogo Wilberforce put Assad ahead in the 14th minute but a determined Seal wiped off the advantage in the 35th minute through John Mwita.
They would only need two minutes to complete the tunaround as John Kiplangat scored in the 37th minute to give Seal the lead at the break.
Titus Kipchanga drove the final nail in the coffin in the 47th minute to seal the victory.
At the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, a Clinton Okoth brace and a Kevin Omondi strike helped MCF emerge winners in their five-goal thriller against Mombasa Elite.
Lunalo Emmanuel and Amubwombe Shariff scored the goals for the away side.
