Joan Laporta has been re-elected as Barcelona president after securing a comfortable victory in Sunday's club elections.

The 63-year-old received 68 per cent of the vote, defeating his only rival, fintech entrepreneur Victor Font, who collected 30 per cent. The remaining ballots were void or invalid. It marks another win for Laporta over Font, whom he also beat in the 2021 presidential race.

The result extends Laporta's leadership into a fourth term. He previously served as Barcelona president between 2003 and 2010 before returning to power in 2021.

A total of 114,504 Barcelona members were eligible to vote, with turnout reaching 42.34 per cent - 48,480 members. Among those casting ballots were head coach Hansi Flick, as well as several first-team players, including Pau Cubarsi and Dani Olmo.

"This is a fantastic win," Laporta said following the announcement of the results at Camp Nou.

"It gives us enormous strength and makes us unstoppable. The coming years will be exciting. I'm sure they will be some of the best of our lives.

"I can only thank Barcelona as a club, an institution in which the members can choose who represents them. That is something marvellous and unique in the world."

Laporta also suggested the result was a clear endorsement of the direction in which the club is heading.

"In this election, the opposing candidacy came with the idea of confrontation between Barca fans," he added. "Today, the members chose us because together we will defend Barcelona against everyone and everything.

"This victory is also a show of support for the work we have been doing for years."

Laporta also highlighted the presence of Flick at the polls.

"It is fantastic to see our manager, Hansi Flick, who is a club member and made the effort to come and vote and participate in what Barca represents."
