Harrison shifts focus on reclaiming league after continental exit

After being bundled out of the CAF Confederation Cup for the third season running, Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison has now trained his focus on reclaiming the league title this campaign. 

K’Ogalo’s dominance in the league was broken by Tusker FC who clinched the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title last season after Gor Mahia’s four-season winning streak. 

Harrison noted that with the team now out of continental competitions, their ultimate target is bagging the league and urged fans to rally behind the side.

“We have to win the league, we have no choice, we have a game on Thursday so we have to brush ourselves and go after points on Thursday,”

“The fans are not more devastated than I am or the players, I’m sure. We need the supporters to pick themselves up for our game on Thursday and we need to push and win the league,” said Harrison.

Gor Mahia dropped to fourth on the log after sitting out of league action this weekend owing to their continental assignment but have a game in hand over Kariobangi Sharks who are the summit of the log.

Harrison admitted that Gor Mahia were poor in the 1-1 draw against Otôho d'Oyo as the team struggled to break down the well-drilled defence from the Congolese outfit.

“I do not think the performance was as good as it should have been, our general performance was poor, we went very direct which I was disappointed in the second half, we were smashing everything on top,”

“At the end of the day, we did not create enough opportunities,” concluded Harrison.
