At only 20 years, the striker believes he has age on his side to hit higher levels than he skipper

Red-hot Harambee stars striker Ryan Ogam has disclosed some of the greatest things he has learnt from captain Michael Olunga.

Ogam has been a sensation at the national scene since making his debut in January, fueled largely by his heroics in the recently concluded 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

On the other hand, Olunga is one of the most experienced players in the national team, with over a decade in the national fold.

With both players playing as strikers, Ogam disclosed the two main attributes he has picked from Olunga in their time at the national team.

“His finishing and positioning is great. Even for his goal, his positioning was really good,” said Ogam.

At only 20 years, Ogam has age on his side and hopes to hit high levels, even better than Olunga.

“Playing with the captain is really nice. As a person and as a player, he has achieved a lot, and so to learn in his shadows is such an honor and I will continue learning from him, and hopefully reach his level or even more,” he added.

Ogam, once again, registered a great performance when Kenya hosted Seychelles in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match played on Tuesday 9 September at the Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.

The former Tusker FC striker broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, heading home a Duke Abuya free kick, and grabbed his brace in the 38th minute, once again from a header.

“Two games and three goals. I thank God for that moment and hopefully I build from that in the next games,” stated Ogam.

The former Rainbow man, who turned from midfielder to striker two seasons ago, has now scored six goals for the national team.

For his troubles, Ogam secured a move to Austrian top tier club Wolfsberger AC, which he is set to join ahead of the weekend games.

Kenyans will be hoping that Ogam picks from where he left when Harambee Stars return to action on 8 October with an away trip to Burundi, before making another trip to face Ivory Coast two days later.
