The defender returns to competitive football after a season in the cold
Nairobi United have confirmed the signing of Harambee Stars defender Kevin 'Chumsy' Okumu, making him the club's first major acquisition of the ongoing transfer window as preparations gather pace for the 2026-2027 FKF Premier League season.
The versatile right-back joins Nairobi as Belgian tactician Patrick Aussems begins strengthening his squad following the conclusion of the club's debut top-flight campaign.

Announcing the move on social media, Nairobi United welcomed the experienced defender with a bold message:
"He owns the right flank. The King has arrived. Kevin 'Chumsy' Okumu is officially a Naiboi!"
Okumu's arrival is expected to significantly strengthen Nairobi United's options on the right side of defence, thanks to his pace, attacking instincts and defensive solidity.
Equally comfortable playing as a traditional full-back or wing-back, the former Wazito FC defender brings valuable top-flight and international experience to the squad.
The move also marks a return to competitive football for the defender after spending the entire 2025/26 season without a club.
Okumu parted ways with KCB ahead of the campaign and remained unattached before securing his move to Nairobi United.
Despite his lengthy spell on the sidelines, the defender remains one of Kenya's highly rated full-backs.
He enjoyed an impressive run with Harambee Stars during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), where his energetic displays and consistency on the right flank earned widespread praise.
His signing underlines Nairobi United's ambition to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours next season as they seek for maiden FKF-PL title.
The club has also moved swiftly in the transfer market by securing striker Syphas Owuor from newly promoted Migori Youth, while midfielder Brian Musa has joined from Kenya Police.
Nairobi United are also understood to be closing in on the signing of Harambee Stars goalkeeper Faruk Shikalo, who would further strengthen the spine of the team.
Following an encouraging first season in the FKF Premier League, Nairobi United are now determined to take another step forward.
The 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup winners are targeting a stronger league challenge while also aiming to compete for domestic silverware once again.
