Olunga, who has traversed the world during his illustrious career, believes Ogam has what it takes to rise among the top strikers globally.

The move is a very positive thing for Kenyan football. I’m really happy for him,” Olunga said in an interview with Flashscore.

"It shows we have the potential to produce players of this calibre. He’s been impressive for the national team in recent matches, and I truly hope more players will follow his example.”

The former Al Duhail forward, who remains the only Kenyan to have scored a LaLiga hat-trick, praised Ogam’s rapid rise, noting that his performances for both club and country have been exceptional.

Ogam burst onto the scene last season after swapping Rainbow FC for Tusker FC.

Initially a defensive midfielder, he was converted into a striker, a move that paid off handsomely.

Within six months, he had notched double-digit goals in his debut Premier League season.

He carried his form to the national team, where he has scored six goals in just eight appearances, cementing his place as one of Olunga’s potential successors at Harambee Stars.

“I wish him the best in Austria. I know he has the quality to become one of the top strikers Kenya has ever produced,” Olunga added.

His move should inspire other young players in the Kenyan Premier League to keep working hard.”

Ogam made his first start for Wolfsberger AC on Wednesday, 29 October, helping the side advance to the quarterfinals of the ÖFB Cup after a hard-fought 3-2 extra-time win over SKU Amstetten.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Austrian outfit late last month, had previously made two substitute appearances before being handed his first start by coach Peter Pacult.

He lasted 45 minutes in the cup tie before being withdrawn at halftime.

Ogam made his debut on Saturday, 4 October, coming off the bench in the 75th minute as Wolfsberger secured a 3-1 away win over Grazer AK.
