The victory sets up a FIFA Series final against the Australia Women's National Team on April 15 where Kenya will aim to complete a perfect run and lift the trophy

Following their commanding 2-0 victory over the Indian Women's National Football Team in the FIFA Series at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, Harambee Starlets are experiencing a surge of success both on and off the pitch, having secured a Ksh 1.5 million reward.

The reward package includes Ksh 1 million pledged by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, along with Ksh 500,000 from Football Kenya Federation.

Following the match and reward announcement, both Football Kenya Federation and the team expressed their appreciation and gratitude in statements shared after the game.

FKF President Hussein Mohamed confirmed the delivery of the funds, while Starlets thanked all partners for their support, highlighting the growing backing for women’s football in the country.

In his statement, Hussein Mohamed said, “This evening I visited Harambee Starlets to deliver the Ksh 1 million reward pledged by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya together with an additional Ksh 500,000 from Football Kenya Federation following their victory over India in their FIFA Series opening match.”

The players responded with gratitude, saying, 'A heartfelt thank you to Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya and Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya for the KSh 1 million reward. We also appreciate Football Kenya Federation for the additional KSh 500,000 in support of the team. Your support means everything to the team.”

Starlets delivered a dominant display under head coach Beldine Odemba, controlling the game from the opening whistle.

Kenya struck early when Martha Amunyolete reacted quickest to a loose ball from a corner in the second minute to fire home and ignite celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.

The hosts continued to apply pressure with Vivian Nasaka and Fasila Adhiambo constantly threatening from wide areas, while Sharline Opisa went close after a well-placed cross but was denied by the goalkeeper.

Captain Mwanalima Adam controlled the midfield and dictated the tempo as Kenya maintained full control while India struggled to cope with the pace and altitude.

The second goal arrived in the 57th minute when Tereza Engesha was played through on goal and calmly finished past the goalkeeper to double the advantage.

Kenya continued to push for more, with Engesha firing over soon after, while substitute Elizabeth Mideva tested the goalkeeper from close range.

Late on, Leah Andiema struck the crossbar before the rebound went wide.

Despite missed chances, the Starlets managed the game well to secure a comfortable win.

The victory sets up a FIFA Series final against the Australia Women's National Team on 15 April, where Kenya will aim to complete a perfect run and lift the trophy.
