Harambee Starlets striker Violet Nanjala has officially completed her move to Saudi Arabian club United Eagles Football Club.

The 25-year-old made the announcement via her social media handle on Monday, 22 September, which comes weeks after she parted ways with Moroccan club Association Municipale de Laâyoune (AMLFF) on 31 August.

The deal with the club based in Khobar, Eastern Province, is reported to be a one-year deal, taking her through the 2025-2026 season.

Founded in 2016, United Eagles FC participates in the Saudi Women's First Division League, which is the second tier of women's football in Saudi Arabia.

The club, which started with college girls and their teachers enduring limited training and sponsorship due to the state of women's sports, played in different tournaments and the nationwide women’s football league, before being enlisted in 2022 as one of 17 teams spread across three regions, who would take part in the country's new First Division League.

The league, after modification, consisted of nine teams last season, with the competition being held in a full league format (home and away).

United Eagles, after 16 rounds, finished fifth last season and will look to gain promotion in the new campaign that begins on Friday, 26 September.

Then, the club, which wears blue at home, will play one of the two promoted sides - Najamat Jeddah - at King Abdulaziz University Stadium (Jeddah), a match Nanjala hopes she will be a part of.

If her previous exploits are anything to go by, Nanjala could prove key in the striking department, having bagged the Botola Pro top scorer award in Morocco last season with 28 goals in just 26 league appearances.

The former Vihiga Queens player holds ambitions of playing in Europe, and a first professional trip outside Africa could well help her career.
