It sounds unbelievable, but it's true – ground movement was recorded at the exact moments Haaland scored his goals
Erling Haaland is pushing boundaries once again – this time quite literally! The phenomenal Norwegian striker scored twice in his national team's victory over Iraq, and the celebrations of the fans reportedly caused officially recorded ground movement in his homeland.
With an astonishing tally of 57 goals in 51 appearances for the national team, Haaland once again confirmed his status as not only a footballing force, but a force of nature as well.
It is widely known in the football world that Erling Haaland is a phenomenon unlike any other. The way he scores goals and the fear he instills in opposing defenses with his mere presence often seems unreal, as if he were created in a laboratory. However, nobody could have predicted that his performances on the pitch would have a direct impact on seismological instruments.
Norwegian seismological institute "Norsar" announced that the earthquake observatory in Bergen recorded clear signals of ground movement during the match. Seismographs showed the strongest activity in the 29th and 43rd minutes, which coincided with the moments when the powerful striker found the back of the net against Iraq.
Although the match kicked off at midnight Central European Time, that did not stop large crowds from gathering in Bergen's public squares to passionately support their team.

🤯⚽️ According to L’Équipe, a seismic monitoring station in Bergen recorded minor ground vibrations following the wild celebrations of Norwegian fans after Erling Haaland’s goal against Iraq.

Experts from the institute quickly provided a logical explanation for the mini-tremor. When a large number of people in an open area react simultaneously to major sporting moments, their synchronized movements and jumping generate specific vibrations in the ground. These waves can then be easily detected by highly sensitive seismological instruments in the surrounding area.
This is not the first time such a phenomenon has been recorded in Norway. A similar event was detected during a concert by globally renowned musician Ed Sheeran in Oslo in the summer of 2024. The fact that Haaland's goals can trigger the same level of excitement as a major music spectacle says everything about his status in the country.
Fans are already wondering what might happen to the ground beneath Norway if the national team, led by the unstoppable striker, achieves a significant result at the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.
