Arsenal won their second game in Asia this time against Newcastle 3-2
After winning the first friendly game in Asia 1-0, Arsenal continued their pre season tour by winning against their with Premier League fellows Newcastle, but nobody at the stadium will care. Their highlight happened a few minutes before the start of the match, when new signing Viktor Gyokeres paraded on the field in a Gunners shirt. The highly paid striker will probably be ready for the Tottenham game on Thursday, but his presence was enough for Arsenal supporters. When the game started, both set of supporters saw five goals, a couple of good chances, Newcastle’s counter attack, Raya’s insecurity and Max Dowman’s fantastic talent. The 15-year old kid came into the game 30 minutes until the end but showed his potential which is already huge. The kid played without any fear, had one good chance and forced Joelington to bring him down in the 82nd minute, giving his team a 3-2 win after Odegaard converted the penalty.

Arteta decided to make changes for this game. Zubimendi was given the start this time and Myles Lewis-Skelly replacing Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back. Ethan Nwaneri continued in the attacking midfield role with Martin Odegaard settling for another place on the bench. Mikel Merino replaced Declan Rice in the starting line-up and Leandro Trossard replaced Gabriel Martinelli at left wing. New boy Anthony Elanga needed only six minutes to score his maiden goal for Newcastle. Trippier came from the right and passed the ball to Tonali, who crossed it over to Elanga who was alone and easily scored. Guimaraes had a chance to score in the 19th minute after a pass from Osula but Raya was there to stop it. And then Arsenal turned the game around in just two minutes. First it was Marino with a precise shot after Havertz’s clever pass, and then Newcastle’s youngster Alex Murphy scored an own goal.

The Magpies again scored first, and this time it was Jacob Murphy with an unexpected shot from distance, which Raya didn’t anticipate. With many substitutions from both side the quality of the match suffered a bit but Murphy made a fantastic cross in the 68th minute but Osula’s header went just inches from the right post. Then it was time for som Dowman magic as Pope was forced into a save in the 71st minute. He didn’t stop there and six minutes later forced the reserve keeper Ruddy to another save. However in the 84th minute Joelington couldn’t do nothing when Dowman passed him by. He tripped him and Odegaard scored the winning goal.
