Seven matches into their second-tier campaign, the newly promoted outfit has shown steady progress.

Gucha Stars have picked up three wins, one draw and three losses, placing them 14th on the log, but Okoth believes the team is gaining confidence with every outing.

Speaking after their 2-0 victory over a struggling Kisumu All Stars side at Gusii Stadium, Okoth praised his squad’s growth.

The players are gaining confidence in every game. Winning against Kisumu All Stars was not easy because they are an experienced team,” he said.

He reserved special praise for match-winner Vincent Nyabuto, who netted a brace, tipping him to emerge as one of the league’s standout forwards.

He is an experienced lad and will play a crucial role in our debut NSL season. He also has a point to prove after his time with Shabana in the KPL,” Okoth added.

Gucha Stars now shift focus to their next assignment on Sunday against Mwatate United.

We want to keep the winning momentum. Our target is to pick maximum points at home,” the coach said.

On Sunday, league leaders Migori Youth will aim to extend their advantage at the summit when they clash with an in-form Darajani Gogo at Marist University in Karen.

Gogo coach Andrew Ongwae expects a fierce contest.

We are going for maximum points. We’ve played two games this week and won both. We want to finish the week with another win and move into the top three,” he said.

Elsewhere, third-placed 3K FC travel to Eldoret to face a wounded Soy United, who are desperate to stop their two-game losing run.

Luanda Villa hosts Naivas FC at Mumboha Grounds, while Vihiga United take on Fortune Sacco at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.

At Thika Stadium, Kabati Youth will be searching for their first win in nine matches when they face Kibera Black Stars. Kabati remain the only team yet to register a victory this season.
