The famous African star is reportedly in contact with his former club. In any case, it remains to be seen how the talks will unfold

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will soon officially become a free agent — and could be on his way back to Olympique de Marseille!

Reliable sources from France report that Aubameyang has re-established contact with his former club, which he left last summer to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah.

However, the Gabonese striker is reportedly unhappy in Saudi Arabia and has requested to terminate his contract — and it looks like he’ll get his wish.

Aubameyang joined Al-Qadsiah last summer for €9 million and scored 17 goals in 32 matches, but he now wants to return to Marseille.

He had a spectacular 2023/24 season in southern France, netting 30 goals and providing 11 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.

Now, at 36, it remains to be seen whether he’ll get one final run on the big stage.

For context, Aubameyang has played for a long list of clubs. As a teenager, he was part of AC Milan’s academy, from where he went on multiple loans — to Dijon, Lille, Monaco, and Saint-Etienne, which led to his first major move in 2013 to Borussia Dortmund. He exploded there and eventually made the biggest move of his career to Arsenal in the winter of 2018 for 63 million.

He later had a brilliant half-season with Barcelona, endured a tough spell at Chelsea, and was ultimately "reborn" at Marseille.
